Grand Hyatt Incheon opens with a brand new tower

Incheon, South Korea (September 3, 2014) —With the completion of a brand new West Tower, Hyatt Regency Incheon has officially re-branded into Grand Hyatt Incheon in time to welcome the athletes and spectators of the 17th Asian Games, commencing on September 19th. The rebranded hotel is the 41st property to join the Grand Hyatt family, and the second Grand Hyatt establishment in South Korea, following Grand Hyatt Seoul.

Located a mere three minutes from Incheon International Airport—and close to downtown Seoul; the Songdo International Business District and Incheon Free Economic Zone; and Eurwangni and Wangsan beaches—the five-star hotel has been prime accommodation for both leisure and business travellers since September 2003. The new West Tower adds 500 new guestrooms to the existing 522 guestrooms in the East Tower—with the two towers connected via a Sky Bridge—to become the largest Hyatt hotel outside North America. Meanwhile, an extensive renovation of the East Tower will take place over the next 18 months, phased to minimise disruption to guests.

The 1,022 well-appointed guestrooms include 43 Suites and 31 Residences—home-inspired spaces with kitchens designed for long-staying guests and the medical tourism market. (Grand Hyatt Incheon is within walking distance from the Inha International Medical Centre.)

Designed by the global design and architectural firm Gensler, the dramatic, wave-shaped West Tower was inspired by the ocean and flowing water and constructed in such environmentally responsible fashion to achieve Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. Sweeping, wave-shaped arches in marble and limestone greet guests in the Lobby, while an arresting chandelier above the grand staircase—rising from the basement, through the lobby and up to the second floor—evokes bubbles rising from a seabed.

Drinking and Dining

Grand Hyatt Incheon now houses four drinking and dining spaces: Grand Café and Swell Lounge in the new West Tower and Restaurant 8 and Vy in the East Tower.

Grand Café, which seats 270, is the hotel’s all-day dining space, specialising in a buffet of authentic European and Asian comfort food. Featuring an outdoor terrace, guests can enjoy fresh dishes cooked in live show kitchens, accompanied by panoramic views of the West Sea. Adjacent, the cocoon-shaped Swell Lounge furnished with plush seating, is the perfect place to relax over coffee, cocktails and light meals. An express business service is also available, making it an ideal meeting venue.

Over in the East Tower, award-winning Restaurant 8 is a unique dining concept featuring eight distinctive restaurants in one—Café, Cucina, Desserts, Deli, Sushi, Yakitori, Noodles and Grill—each with its own authentic cuisine and ambience. Meanwhile, Vy (Vibration of Youth) Bar & Karaoke is an indulgent entertainment centre with private rooms, offering a carefully curated range of cocktails, whiskies, wines-by-the-glass and light fare.

Grand Club Facilities

Grand Hyatt Incheon now houses two private Grand Club Lounges—on the 11th floor of the East Tower and the 12th floor of the West Tower—for guests staying in Grand Club rooms. Both lounges offer dramatic views of Incheon International Airport and the West Sea, making it the ideal backdrop for sundowners. In addition, Grand Club guests can enjoy a queue-free check-in/check-out service from the exclusive concierge, and complimentary continental breakfast; all-day beverages and light snacks; and evening cocktails and hors d’oeuvres.

Event Spaces

Housing two large ballrooms, myriad meeting areas and dramatic outdoor spaces, Grand Hyatt Incheon offers venues of all sizes to stage and orchestrate memorable events, from a meeting of 10 to a reception of 1,200.

The East Tower houses a Ballroom that can accommodate 540 people in a banquet setting, as well as nine event rooms, two hospitality suites and three boardrooms. A covered Sky Bridge connects the Ballroom and meeting space of the East Tower with the event deck of the West Tower, featuring a Grand Ballroom with a capacity of 830 people in a banquet setting, augmented by a large pre-function foyer with a built-in bar. The West Tower also houses two large conference rooms; two drawing rooms; four meeting rooms; and the Garden Event Deck and Pool House Terrace—a dramatic space surrounded by cherry and pine trees and ocean views that can accommodate outdoor events for up to 400 people.

All of the event spaces feature state-of-the-art multimedia and conference equipment and high-speed Internet access, while a creative and experienced events team is on hand to provide personalised service and plan and execute a flawless meeting or event. In keeping with Hyatt’s tradition of catering excellence, Grand Hyatt Incheon will aim to be the city’s leading host of themed events, highlighted by dramatic tabletop presentations, stunning floral arrangements and elaborate lighting.

Activities

Guests at Grand Hyatt Incheon can enjoy the entertainment at Paradise Casino Incheon or unwind at the hotel’s multiple recreational facilities. The hotel houses two glass-ceilinged, roof-top indoor pools—a 25-metre lap pool in the East Tower and a 20-metre lap pool in the West Tower—both offering tranquil views over wildflower gardens. Younger guests will enjoy the 15-metre children’s pool and outdoor playground with a castle, while fitness fanatics will appreciate the jogging track and well-equipped gym.

“We are very excited about the rebranding of Hyatt Regency Incheon and introducing the Grand Hyatt brand to the city,” said General Manager Paul Wright. “With our splendid expanded facilities, myriad dining options and ultra-attentive service, we are able to offer guests an abundance of options and possibilities and a backdrop for multicultural experiences. Meanwhile, our proximity to the airport, dramatic meeting and event spaces and large number of guestrooms make us an attractive venue for MICE organisers. We look forward to surpassing the expectations of our business, leisure and local guests.”
