THE BALNEUM, A CHINESE HOT SPRING SPA, OPENS AT HYATT RESORT IN JING JIN CITY
Only hot spring spa in the area offers Onsen quality and the first facial treatment in
China to combine European mineral therapy with Traditional Chinese Medicine

CHICAGO (July 9, 2009) – Hidden in a private garden, The Balneum at Hyatt Regency Jing Jin City Resort and Spa, conveniently located between Beijing and Tianjin, is an extraordinary new Hyatt Pure spa dedicated to cultivating guests’ positive health with authentic and holistic methods. As the only hot spring spa in Tianjin to guarantee the quality of its geothermal hot spring with Japanese Onsen quality analysis, The Balneum offers a complete program in spa wellness focused on the therapeutic properties of these naturally healing waters.

The Balneum, meaning “bathing place” in Latin, and “Dao,” meaning “the law of nature” or “the origin of universe” in Chinese, offers a seamless marriage of the healing by waters tradition of balneotherapy and the authentic practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Measuring at nearly 64,000 square feet (approximately 6,700 square meters), the spa is designed in rich, warm tones and cool, sleek lines by U.S. design team Heitz Parksons Sadek.

All resort guests have the opportunity to consult with and be treated by a resident Traditional Chinese Medical doctor, with a choice of authentic Chinese offerings including Traditional Chinese Medicine Consultation, Chinese Herbal Counseling, Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Meditation. The Nourishing Facial treatment is the most unique treatment at the spa. It is the first facial treatment in China to combine European mineral therapy with Traditional Chinese Medicine.

The facial combines French Payot products rich in minerals with Gua Sha, an ancient detoxifying treatment from Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Supporting guests’ complete well-being, the menu of The Balneum presents a selection of a la carte treatments as well as five-day or two-day spa programs for authentic, holistic results. The a la carte offerings are highlighted by the spa’s Signature Balneotherapy experiences. The Balneum blends the Onsen-quality mineral hot spring waters with Traditional Chinese herbs for naturally renewing and results-oriented bathing experiences, perfectly complimenting a complete menu of spa offerings including facial treatments, massage therapies, and body exfoliation and envelopment.

The Balneum is comprised of ten Couple Suites with a view of the garden sanctuary; one Deluxe Balneotherapy Suite; a TCM Suite that offers Traditional Chinese Medicine consultancy and herbal tonic; and a Reflexology Zone accommodating both individual and group foot massage, manicure and pedicure. Men’s and Ladies’ locker facility provides hydrotherapy relaxation areas; a Spa Boutique; and the Conservatory Juice Bar serving signature Honey Tea in the summer and warming Ginger Tea in the winter. The spa is a true wellness sanctuary.
