HYATT CELEBRATES LGBT PRIDE MONTH
Hyatt LGBT associates and supporters volunteer at Pride events across the country

CHICAGO (June 22, 2012) – To celebrate LGBT Pride Month 2012, volunteers from HyPride, Hyatt’s newly formed employee-networking group for members and supporters of the LGBT community that work at Hyatt hotels, will volunteer at seven Pride events across the country.

“Hyatt believes our path to becoming the most preferred brand in every segment we serve starts with building and sustaining a culture that recognizes and appreciates the diversity of our Hyatt family,” said Robb Webb, executive sponsor of HyPride and chief human resources officer, Hyatt Hotels Corporation. “Hyatt is deeply committed to our associates and to our core value of mutual respect and we fully support our LGBT associates, guests, and owners ensuring a welcoming environment where they can perform to their fullest potential.”

Hyatt is proud of its record as one of the most widely recognized supporters of LGBT equality in the workplace. Earlier this month, Webb submitted a statement to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions advocating Hyatt’s support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (EDNA), a bill that would prohibit discrimination in hiring and employment on the basis of sexual orientation or gender equality.

Late last year, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation named Hyatt one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBT Equality” for the eighth consecutive year as a result of the company’s 100 percent ranking on HRC’s 2012 Corporate Equality Index. The ranking includes perfect marks in Hyatt’s protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender equality and parity of health care benefits for domestic partners. Hyatt also received recognition for its diversity training, internal resources for LGBT associates, and external support for the LGBT community.

Over the years, Hyatt’s significant commitment to the LGBT community has generated other accolades and recognition including:

  • Advocate Magazine named Hyatt as one of the “Top-Ten Gay Friendly Employers in America” and DiversityInc Magazine rated Hyatt among the “Top Companies for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Employees”
  • Hyatt is a longtime supporter and partner of GLAAD, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and IGLTA, the International Gay Lesbian Travel Association
  • Hyatt is a longtime supporter and partner of NGLCC, the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce
  • Hyatt was named “best gay hotel collection” and received the “PlanetOut Travel Award,” one of the most prestigious awards recognizing a hotelier’s commitment to serving the LGBT community

Hyatt Corporation’s employees enjoy domestic partner benefits, including health insurance, medical leave, bereavement pay, and relocation expenses.

Hyatt’s HyPride team is staffing booths at LGBT Pride Month events in Baltimore; Boston; Chicago; Minneapolis; New York; San Francisco; Seattle; Tampa/St. Pete, Fla.; and Washington, D.C.
