GERMANTOWN, Tenn., October 3, 2006 – Equity Inns, Inc. (NYSE: ENN), the third largest hotel real estate investment trust (REIT), today announced that the Company has filed a Form 8-K with the Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) in connection with agreement with Global Hyatt Corporation regarding the terms under which ENN will convert its 18 AmeriSuites to Hyatt Place hotels. Conversion of all hotels is expected to be completed by the end of 2007.
Global Hyatt Corporation is partnering with Seattlebased real estate developer R.C. Hedreen Co. to develop, own and operate Hyatt at Olive 8 in the heart of downtown Seattle. R.C. Hedreen Co. and Hyatt jointly own Grand Hyatt Seattle, while Hyatt manages the property. The companies have reached a similar agreement for Hyatt at Olive 8. The new hotel and residential project, valued at over $175 million, recently began construction at the corner of 8Avenue and Olive Way.
