Today, Hyatt also unveils a Commit To Thrive social pledge campaign, which asks associates, guests, and neighbors to take an online pledge to commit to making a positive difference in their communities. For each pledge taken up to 35,000, Hyatt will donate a book to a child in need through Room to Read and We Give Books.

The new Midtown Manhattan location represents a move into downtown urban locations for the upscale select service brand, which has grown by nearly 18 percent in the past three years.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced the appointment of Alex Zoghlin as the company’s first global head of technology. In this role, Zoghlin will be responsible for all aspects of Hyatt’s technology platform and systems. Zoghlin joins Hyatt with more than 20 years of technology experience, including over 10 years in the travel and real estate industries, including founding Orbitz.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered into a management agreement with Cap Vermell Hotel Proyectos y Promociones, S.L, a Spanish real estate development company, for a new Park Hyatt hotel in Mallorca. Park Hyatt Mallorca will be the first Hyatt-branded hotel in Mallorca, an island in the Mediterranean Sea off the eastern coast of Spain.

Fresh off this week's opening of the 296-room Hyatt Place Austin Downtown, Hyatt Hotels Corporation today announced that a Hyatt affiliate has acquired the 189-room Driskill Hotel for approximately $85 million from an investment fund managed by Lowe Enterprises Investors, which was represented in the transaction by Jones Lang LaSalle’s Hotels & Hospitality Group.
