CHICAGO (July 14, 2010) – Hyatt Hotels & Resorts today announced that Brigitta Witt has been named Vice President, Corporate Social Responsibility, reporting to Robb Webb, Chief Human Resources Officer.

In this role, Witt will be responsible for integrating and optimizing Hyatt’s community engagement and volunteer efforts, its environmental and social programs and policies, and its philanthropic and disaster relief efforts. In particular, Witt will focus on aligning Hyatt’s long established commitment in these areas with the company’s business goal of being the preferred brand for guests, employees and owners.

“I am delighted to appoint Brigitta to this new position,” said Robb Webb, Chief Human Resources Officer. “She has been a true champion at Hyatt for environmental responsibility, and with her guidance, we have been able to successfully develop and implement our sustainability program, Hyatt Earth, across our global operations. In this role, Brigitta, along with all of our associates and key business partners, will implement our corporate social responsibility strategy and report on our progress in community engagement and environmental goals.”

Since joining Hyatt in 2007 as Vice President of Environmental Affairs, Witt has been integral in developing Hyatt’s environmental strategy and Hyatt Earth, a global program with a unified vision and strategy, a focus on local execution, and a commitment to accountability and transparency. Under her leadership and with the support of dedicated associates in the corporate office and in each hotel around the world, Hyatt has formed Green Teams that are implementing important initiatives and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility in their local communities. In addition, Witt has worked to develop and implement a global environmental training program, issue environmental guidelines and best practices, develop sustainable design and construction guidelines, and streamline and integrate communication and Green Team efforts in support of Hyatt’s long term environmental goals.

Prior to joining Hyatt, Witt served as Senior Director of Business Development and General Manager for GreenDimes, an organization dedicated to reducing the production and eco-strains of junk mail.
