SPA HYATT® LEADS THE WAY TO WORLDWIDE WELL-BEING
47 Signature Spas Worldwide; Seven More Anticipated to Open in 2005

CHICAGO, Spring 2005 – Hyatt Hotels & Resorts is proud to be the first upscale resort company to commit significant resources to one of the fastest-growing sectors in the travel industry. Recognizing that spas are more than a mere hotel amenity or passing trend, Spa Hyatt® offers more full-service spas than any other global hotel company with an impressive 47 spas in its portfolio, including 13 locations that opened last year. Seven additional spa locations are scheduled to open by the end of 2005.

Spa Hyatt continued to innovate the industry with the May 2004 opening of Plateau at Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, a self-contained health and wellness retreat that covers the entire 11th floor of the hotel (80,000 square feet). Plateau offers 14 luxury guestrooms for overnight accommodations (with oversized bathtubs and wireless connectivity) as well as nine treatment rooms, a dedicated lobby and reception desk, dining venues, the largest outdoor heated swimming pool in Hong Kong, five fitness studios, an outdoor jogging track, and massive landscaping that boasts over 1,000 trees and water features – all overlooking Victoria Harbour.

To further enhance the complete spa experience, Spa Hyatt looks beyond providing a diverse spa menu and specially-trained therapists, especially as spas are evolving into a lifestyle in its own right. Gordon Tareta, Director of Spa Operations, was quoted in the March 2005 issue of Spa as one of the visionaries in the spa world, saying that “equipment providers and furniture designers will join forces to create spa ‘designer’ furniture…inspired by elements from homes, restaurants, and hotels.” Unique to Hyatt, Plateau, designed by John Morford, is an inspired fusion of a spa-like residence that ensures seclusion and quiet escape. A similar concept floor called I-Sawan will be opening at Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok May 2005.

Hyatt was also the first hotel group to open a youth spa. The SPAhhhT (pronounced “spot”) opened at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, May 2003, with a variety of youth-designed services such as Henna Tattoos, Updo’s, airbrushed nail art, and basic salon services.

Regardless of age or time zone, Spa Hyatt features cutting-edge services and an array of treatments, often using methods and ingredients indigenous to the spa’s locale, taking “spa culture” to the next level. Following is a sampling of Hyatt spas worldwide:
