CHICAGO, December 15, 2005—Global Hyatt Corporation announced today that it has acquired the 505room Westin Santa Clara from an affiliate of Strategic Hotel Capital, LLC. Effective immediately, Hyatt assumes management of the property and has rebranded and repositioned the hotel as Hyatt Regency Santa Clara and will promptly begin a $10 million dollar renovation of guestrooms, lobby area and meeting space. Joining Hyatt San Jose in the heart of Northern California’s Silicon Valley, Hyatt Regency Santa Clara becomes Hyatt’s 27in the state and 215property worldwide.

Peter Rice assumes general manager duties at Hyatt Regency Santa Clara, following his role as general manager at the 536room Hyatt Regency Irvine. A 19year Hyatt veteran, Rice will oversee the property’s forthcoming renovation.
