HYATT HOTELS & RESORTS EXPANDS ITS PORTFOLIO IN ASIA PACIFIC
16 New Hotels to Open over the Next Three Years

Hong Kong, March 2007 -Over the next three years, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts plans to open 16 new hotels in Asia Pacific. These properties represent a further step in Hyatt’s development and will strengthen the network and brand portfolio of Hyatt in Asia Pacific.

“Last year we opened two hotels in Asia Pacific: Park Hyatt Seoul and Park Hyatt Saigon. In 2006 to date, Hyatt has opened Hyatt Regency Kyoto and Hyatt Regency Dongguan. We are looking ahead to the opening of Hakone at the end of the year. In 2007, we will open a new hotel in Shanghai and Hyatt Regency Phuket. In addition there are 12 new properties opening in China and four in other parts of the Asia Pacific over the next three years,” According to Grahame Carder, Vice President-Marketing for Asia Pacific, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, “China is an engine of growth with significant strategic importance to the Hyatt group. Greater China already has the most Hyatt hotels outside North America. Expansion will take place at mindful pace, and additions will occur in a strategic manner.” he continued. 

India, will also be the region with consistent growth over the next three years. Currently Hyatt manages five properties in India including Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Hyatt Regency Mumbai, Hyatt Regency Delhi, Hyatt Regency Kolkata and Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa.

 

 Park Hyatt

The Park Hyatt brand is renown internationally for intimate, residential accommodation, providing exceptional interior design and gracious personalized service. Hyatt currently has three Park Hyatt hotels under construction in China – Park Hyatt Beijing, Park Hyatt Ningbo and Park Hyatt Shanghai.

Given the prime location in the centre of Beijing’s CBD, Park Hyatt Beijing, when complete in 2007, will be one of the most prestigious hotels in Asia, featuring a sky lobby on top of a 63-storey building, 237 guestrooms, luxury spa, meeting rooms and restaurants and bars. Hyatt International will also manage luxury residential accommodation, the Park Hyatt Penthouses and Park Hyatt Residences, and Park Life – a lifestyle environment and retail centre.

Opening in 2008, the 232-room Park Hyatt Ningbo Resort & Spa, is located on Dongqian Lake, one of the most scenic destinations in eastern China, about two hours drive from Shanghai. The hotel will feature low-rise buildings, private villas with spa and recreational facilities, meeting and banquet space and specialty restaurants. 

Also scheduled to open in 2008, Park Hyatt Shanghai, the third property managed by Hyatt in Shanghai will be on the top floors of Shanghai World Financial Centre in Pudong. All 175 guestrooms will have stunning city views, and additional facilities will include spa, restaurants and bars and meeting rooms.  

Grand Hyatt

Hyatt will expand in southern China with three Grand Hyatt properties in Guangzhou, Macau and Shenzhen. Opening in early 2008, Grand Hyatt Guangzhou is ideally located in the centre of Zhujiang New Town, the city’s central business district, just a short distance from the new Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The hotel will have 400 luxurious guestrooms, seven restaurants and bars, ballrooms and extensive meeting and banquet space, indoor swimming pool, gym and spa facilities.  

Scheduled to open mid 2007, the 631-room Hyatt on the Bund, Shanghai is located on the North Bund, in the heart of the commercial district of Shanghai. Every guestroom will enjoy views of the Bund or Pudong across the Huangpu River. Designed by Peter Remedios of Remedios Siembieda Inc., the 42-45 square metre spacious guestrooms will feature open bathroom concept with rain shower, DVD player and flat screen TV. There will be extensive meeting and banquet facilities, a wide range of restaurants and bars, a fitness centre, swimming pool and spa.

Opening in 2009, Grand Hyatt Macau will have 1,110 rooms, blending contemporary designs with timeless details, Guests will have easy access to the facilities of the luxurious spa, extensive meeting and banquet facilities, combining luxury décor and the flexibility to accommodate various functions in one venue. The podium, beneath the hotel and connected with other parts of the City of Dreams, consists of a world-class casino, shopping, entertainment facilities and restaurants. 

Scheduled to open in 2009, Grand Hyatt Shenzhen, part of the city’s most exciting commercial development – City Crossing, will have 400 guestrooms, extensive meeting and business facilities, spa and recreational centre, restaurants and bars. Grand Hyatt Guangzhou and Grand Hyatt Shenzhen will join the regional network of distinct Grand Hyatt hotels that include award-winning properties in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei. 

Hyatt Regency

New Hyatt Regency hotels are also part of Hyatt International’s expansion plan. To strengthen Hyatt’s presence in Asia Pacific, six new hotels will open in the next three years: Hyatt Regency Jing Jin City, Tianjin, Hyatt Regency Phuket, Hyatt Regency Chongqing, Hyatt Regency Chengdu, Hyatt Regency Nanjing and Hyatt Regency Suzhou.

Opening late 2007, Hyatt Regency Jing Jin City is a luxurious conference hotel located in Baodi, the hot spring resort 70 km southeast of Beijing and 70 km north of Tianjin; within one hour drive of the major highways linking the two cities. Set on 104 square kilometers of mixed-used real estate development Jing Jin City, the 837-room hotel is an integrated resort with luxurious accommodation, a wide range of dining, recreational and sports facilities. The resort resembles an ancient, mythical royal palace surrounded by a labyrinth of pathways, archways and waterways, with lush gardens and natural geothermal hot springs, creating a unique oasis in northern China.   

Opened on 16th December 2006, The 79-room Hyatt Regency Hakone Resort and Spa is the first spa resort hotel operated by an international hotel chain in Hakone.  Hakone is a resort region in the Kanagawa prefecture and approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) west of Tokyo. Situated in Fuji Hakone National Park in Gora, the hotel is designed by the celebrated Japanese design firm Super Potato, the hotel Spa is the largest in Hakone. Each of the eight treatment rooms has their own private mist sauna and five of them have private bath. Two of the rooms are also available to connect to vichi shower room.

In late 2007, a luxurious 156 room Resort and Spa hotel will be opened on the west coast of Phuket island, in Thailand. Hyatt Regency Phuket is located on Nai Yang beach, only 15 minutes from Phuket airport. It has a private location, nestled on the hillside at the southern end of the bay, surrounded by National Park land, with access at low tide to a secluded private island. Each room, measures 50 square metres, has a generous, spacious balcony with a private plunge pool. The interior is designed with modern fixtures, simply furnished with Malaysian teakwood, in neutral shades and natural fabrics, combined with traditional Thai elegance. Currently Hyatt operates 50 hotels & resorts in Asia Pacific including six Park Hyatt Hotels, 13 Grand Hyatts and 31 Hyatt Regency Hotels.
