GRAND HYATT DOHA ON SCHEDULE TO OPEN EARLY 2008

The opening of Grand Hyatt Doha in Spring 2008 will mark Qatar’s entry into the glittering world of 5star Hyatt hotels in the Arabian Gulf region. Park Hyatt Dubai, Grand Hyatt Dubai, Hyatt Regency Dubai and Grand Hyatt Muscat have established themselves as leading hotels in the region, winning international awards for service and style.

Grand Hyatt Doha will blend the architectural themes of the ancient world with contemporary technology, but rather than simply recreating a palace, the interior design is clear about what is new and what may be old. The interiors blend historic architectural elements with contemporary materials which are rich, subdued and comfortable. Lighting plays a key role to highlight certain elements and to create the moods and changing themes throughout the day and night. Crystals and tinted glass elements add sparkle and jewelled effects. The public areas replicate the inner courts of an Emir’s palace, once filled with visiting emissaries from the ancient world, but today filled with discerning international travellers.

The architecture and the magnificent entry spaces are the strongest reminders of the palace imagery, which is the basis for the inspiration of the concept and of the hotel.

The central court, or atrium, is surrounded on two levels by lounges, restaurants and the lobby bar. This space will be the hub of the hotel and the centre of activity. Through the fourstorey high windows there are spectacular views towards the centre of Doha, the Pearl Island and over the beach and gardens surrounding the hotel. The bamboo garden, with its dancing fountain and dramatic crystal rain, is a feature of the central atrium.

The guestrooms and suites are spacious and luxurious, with rich woods such as yew and walnut, complementing fine textiles. The oversized marble bathrooms open into the bedrooms, but are designed to allow for whatever level of privacy a guest may choose.

The hotel will have extensive facilities for conferences in the various meeting rooms and boardrooms of the large conference centre. Major events can be accommodated in the magnificent 1,500 sq m ballroom under crystallized domes.

There will be fitness facilities, with an indoor pool and spa with individual and couples’ spa suites, in an elegant garden setting with indoor tranquillity pools.

The restaurants are each individually designed and will feature show kitchens highlighting the international cuisines being presented. The Lobby Bar will feature a fine wine display, a walkin humidor and a fireplace in an elegant drawing room setting overlooking the atrium.
