HYATT REGENCY PHOENIX SLATES MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR GUESTROOM RENOVATION TO BEGIN IN JULY
$15 Million Upgrade Combines Modern Design with Southwest Flair

PHOENIX, AZ (April 15, 2009) – Hyatt Regency Phoenix will commence a $15 million makeover starting July 2009.  Scheduled for completion in December 2009, the renovation will include all 712 guestrooms, including bathrooms, suites and corridors on each of the hotel’s 18 floors, along with the lobby and meeting space.

Located in downtown Phoenix, the new guest rooms are designed with an eye towards modern luxury.  The scope of the renovation will include all architectural finishes and fixtures, as well as custom furniture items, including seating, lighting, artwork, floor finishes, bedding and accessories.  The new color scheme is a layering of earth tones, including celery, tangerine and sunset.  A granite- topped credenza houses a new 37- inch flat screen TV.  Guest bathrooms will be upgraded into a new contemporary scheme with granite stone top counters, new shower design including rain forest shower heads and curved shower rod with new wall coverings and vanity with extra shelving for towels.  All corridors will be re-carpeted to compliment the new guestrooms.

The hotel’s new lobby will be the focal point of the transformation, offering a modern southwest flair.  The lobby will include living lounge areas throughout to include flat screen TV and a Cyber Café.  The check-in process will become much more efficient and engaging with new pod stations and flat screen laptops.

The 48,000 square-feet meeting space including 23 meeting rooms and a 10,200-square foot ballroom, will all be re-carpeted offering a fresh look and feel.

A StayFit@Hyatt fitness center expansion will also be available for guests starting in January 2010.  Hyatt’s StayFit@Hyatt caters to fitness-conscious business and leisure travelers.  The 24/7 gym will feature the latest high-tech cardio and strength-training equipment from industry leader Life Fitness®.  StayFit@Hyatt will also offer guests in-room, on-demand yoga videos through an exclusive partnership with Yoga Away; a 24-hour-a-day.

“We are very thrilled to begin this renovation, as these enhancements will introduce an entirely new level of design to Hyatt Regency Phoenix, delivering an unparalleled combination of functionality and comfort,” said Murray Burnett, General Manager, Hyatt Regency Phoenix. “Whether guests are visiting Phoenix for business or pleasure, they can unwind with all of the contemporary design and amenities today’s travelers crave most.”
