HYATT OPENS FIRST NORTHERN CONNECTICUT HOTEL
Ideally Located Between Hartford, CT, and Springfield, MA, Hotel Offers Fresh Take on Comforts of Home, Neighborhood Conveniences

WINDSOR, CT – MAY 26, 2009 – Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and PRA Development and Management Inc. today announce the opening of Hyatt Summerfield Suites Hartford North/Windsor, the second hotel in the country to open featuring the brand’s new design.  The hotel’s guest suites and public spaces enable travelers to experience the comforts of home, the convenience of a neighborhood and the feel of a community in a new way.

Hyatt Summerfield Suites Hartford North/Windsor is ideally situated for business and leisure travelers, thanks to its proximity to local businesses including Alstom Power, ING, Travelers Insurance and the companies of United Technologies.  The Connecticut Convention Center, Six Flags New England, Dodge Music Center and The Mark Twain House and Museum are also minutes away.  Owned and operated by PRA Development and Management Inc., the 132-suite hotel offers a variety of studio, one- and two-bedroom suites.

HYATT SUMMERFIELD SUITES COMMUNITY

Based on research suggesting that people seek out face-to-face interaction to compensate for a trend toward fewer close personal relationships, Hyatt Summerfield Suites designed both the guest suite and public spaces to facilitate interaction between guests and staff as well as socialization among guests.

“Multiple brands across our industry promise a feeling of home, but Hyatt Summerfield Suites did the research to find out what ‘home’ means to travelers and brought those elements into all areas of our hotels,” said Alison Kal, vice president, marketing, Hyatt Hotels & Resorts.  “Travelers told us ‘home’ includes a person’s community so we created an experience that offers the comfort and sociability typically associated with both a home and a neighborhood.”

The hotel lobby is designed to function as a neighborhood; guests enter on a metaphorical “main street” which includes a central core of businesses essential for daily living, such as a Guest Market, open 24/7, and a Business Center.  The path through the public space leads to an outdoor area which features gathering spaces where guests can relax and socialize.

SUITE DESIGN REFLECTS LIFESTYLE EVOLUTION

The guest suites at Hyatt Summerfield Suites Hartford North/Windsor reflect how people live in their homes today.  The new guest suites, like many modern condominiums and residences, center around the kitchen, which is set against the suite’s windows to maximize natural light.  Keeping with the design of American homes, the kitchen flows directly into the living area, creating an open, continuous space and now features a large table and an island that can be used as additional counter space or workspace.

In addition to an enhanced design, Hyatt Summerfield Suites guest suites also offer:

  • 32-inch flat panel high definition televisions in the living areas and bedrooms
  • The Hyatt Plug Panel™, which allows guests to plug their portable media devices such as MP3 players, directly into the television
  • The plush Hyatt Grand Bed™
  • A bright color palette of green, blue, orange and earth tones inspired by couture fashion
