Grand Hyatt The Red Sea Officially Opens On Shura Island, Establishing A New Hub For Exceptional Stays, Dining And Events
The 430-room resort combines elevated stays, grand-scale events and a vibrant culinary and lifestyle offering

CHICAGO (November 2, 2026): Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) announces the opening of Grand Hyatt The Red Sea on Shura Island, marking the arrival of the second Hyatt branded property in The Red Sea coastal destination and the eighth Hyatt branded hotel in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Positioned as a destination within a destination, Grand Hyatt The Red Sea combines elevated stays, grand-scale events, and a lively culinary and lifestyle offering, alongside family-friendly activities, adults-only spaces and wellness facilities catering to every style of stay. The property is set to become the heart of Shura Island, as well as a leading venue for meetings, celebrations and landmark gatherings.

“The opening of Grand Hyatt The Red Sea is a significant milestone for Hyatt in the Kingdom and comes just months after Miraval The Red Sea welcomed guests earlier this year,” said Stephen Ansell, Managing Director, Middle East and Africa, Hyatt. “Together, these openings reflect our pace and ambition for growing our brands in Saudi Arabia, while giving World of Hyatt members even more ways to experience this extraordinary destination across two distinctive Hyatt brands. We are proud to be playing a role in bringing Shura Island’s vision to life.”

Grand Hyatt The Red Sea offers 430 rooms, suites and villas, the island’s leading ballroom and nine distinctive dining venues, making it the island’s largest gathering and dining destinations.

Guided by Shura Island’s regenerative Coral Bloom master planning concept created by Foster + Partners, Grand Hyatt The Red Sea’s design draws directly from its setting. Inspired by the colours, textures and organic forms of the Red Sea’s coral reefs, the resort’s signature canopy structures create a distinctive visual identity while providing shade and comfortable outdoor spaces that encourage exploration and social interaction. Made using recycled fishing nets and inspired by reef forms, prisms of light and reflections on the water, the canopies form part of a wider design approach that connects the resort to its natural surroundings while supporting the destination’s environmental ambitions.

“It is an honor to welcome guests to Grand Hyatt The Red Sea,” said Jean-Francois Durand, General Manager at Grand Hyatt The Red Sea. “Shura Island is unlike anywhere else, and we've designed every part of the experience, from our rooms and pools to our nine dining venues, to reflect the vibrancy and beauty of this incredible destination. We can't wait to share it with the rest of the world.”

Spacious Accommodation

Grand Hyatt The Red Sea features 430 rooms, suites and villas, designed to offer spacious and comfortable retreats with a strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Designed by Muza Lab, the accommodations draw on the Coral Bloom concept, The Reef Flower Garden, with a calming palette, soft warmth and organic forms inspired by the Red Sea. Layered textures and playful accents echo the movement of the ocean and its changing tides, creating interiors that feel both serene and intrinsically connected to their surroundings. Guest rooms feature private balconies or terraces overlooking the sea, lagoon or gardens, alongside premium bedding, spa-inspired bathrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, smart in-room technology, luxury bath amenities and curated minibars. Select accommodations also feature private pools and exclusive villa experiences, offering guests an elevated level of comfort and privacy while connecting them to the natural beauty of The Red Sea.

Vibrant Culinary Offering

The expansive resort will be home to nine distinctive dining and social venues, creating a diverse culinary destination for guests and visitors to Shura Island, with experiences ranging from live-fire dining and international cuisine to relaxed poolside venues and late-night social concepts.

Now open, guests can gather at Embers, where the spectacle of live-fire cooking takes center stage, showcasing expertly prepared meats and fresh seafood in a vibrant setting inspired by the spirit of shared dining. For a more relaxed experience, Drift Pool Bar will offer refreshing beverages and light bites alongside sweeping views of The Red Sea, creating an inviting setting to unwind throughout the day.

The resort's culinary offering will continue to evolve, with the seven other venues set to open at a later stage. These include The Amalfi Club, Café Maude French bistro, Havana Social, Charcoal Tandoor Fire Grill and El Ta’koy Hawaiian street food by internationally acclaimed Chef Luis Pous, alongside Akira Back Korean BBQ and 2am: dessert bar by Janice Wong -concepts from celebrated culinary names including Michelin‑starred chef Akira Back and internationally renowned pastry chef Janice Wong.

Elevated Wellness

Guests can unwind across the resort's five pools spanning the property, including the Drift Pool, Amalfi Pool and Main Pool outdoors, and an Indoor Lap Pool and Spa Vitality Pool indoors. The 8,070-square-foot (750-square-meter) Ethereal Spa, featuring the VOYA brand, offers 12 treatment rooms, including ten indoor and two outdoor. A 5,380-square-foot (500-square-meter) fitness center provides guests with a full range of wellness and training facilities. Designed to offer guests a balance of relaxation, movement and wellbeing, the resort provides a range of spaces to unwind while enjoying the natural surroundings of Shura Island.

With versatile event spaces including five meeting rooms, a Junior Ballroom and the Grand Ballroom, which is recognized as the largest on Shura Island, Grand Hyatt The Red Sea is positioned as a leading destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and landmark celebrations on Saudi Arabia's west coast, complemented by a premium lifestyle setting.
